Mani Of the Week: "OPI Pure Lacquer Nail Apps in AP110 Fishnet"
I find that OPI Nail Apps are a quick and easy way to add a great nail art pattern to your nails when you're too busy to make much of an effort.
They really caught my eye when i saw them applied with GelColor top coat during recent Toronto Esthetic and Spa show. I thought this was a brilliant idea to get a lot more wear out of a nail product that costs more than an OPI nail polish bottle. But then again, judging by results, its price should be rather compared to nail art done professionally at a salon, rather that a bottle of polish.
What makes OPI Nail Apps different from any nail stickers, is the fact that they are truly made of nail polish with a design printed on top. This makes application a lot easier and solves the problem of them lifting. If left unsealed they will air dry.
The OPI Nail App strips are super-long. My nails are long already, but i had enough leftover design to share with a friend or do my toes. If you're doing manicure for short nails, you may get leftovers enough for one more person, so call your mom or sister and have matching nails! :)
To apply them, you need to rub the strip a little bit to warm it up, peel them off and place them on your nail. You don't need to use a base coat, since it's already built in the product. Rubbing the app against your nail helps to smooth any lines and also morph it onto the nail to prevent it from lifting. Apply the top coat of your choice. I used GelColor top coat here and this photo is made 5 days after the application. You can see my natural nail growth area, and yet tip wear is minimum, there's no lifting and the shine is still there!
Tip: One of the tricks i used is bend the top of the wraps to cover your free edge and file just below the nail. Then seal the free edge covered by nail app with gel top coat. As long as the free edge has product on it, it's a lot less likely to peel or lift. If you have any lifting going on, just put some gel below that area, press the wrap on and cure. Works every time.
In this particular design, the base color is close to OPI Teal the Cows Come Home and the fishnet design is pure black.
Hope you enjoyed this look and talk to you soon.
