Mani of the Week: "Diamond Jubilee Manicure"

Mani of the Week: "Diamond Jubilee Manicure"

The Queen of England Elizabeth II has celebrated 60 years as Monarch in June 2012. This is an amazing and very rare event in history of Britain and only happened once before. The Queen Mother is very active and so so precious! She has tons of passionate fans across the entire British Commonwealth, part of which we, Canadians, happen to be. You don't want to know how many people showed up in London to "Vivat!" their beloved Queen! :) Being a huge fan of Great Britain and everything British myself, i decided to come up with a mani inspired by Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee for this week.

I used Essie Midnight Cami and Essie Size Matters as a base on alternating nails. Then i used different size rhinestones, pearls, silver beads and a long metal stud to re-create the crown. For the Queen's crimson velvet mantle-inspired nail i applied Essie Blanc for the white edging and black boat-shaped stones for ermine accents. The gold filigree embroidery was evoked by stamping with leaf-scroll image from stamping plate M36 and i used CND Gold Chrome polish as a stamping polish. To keep the entire look balanced, i applied 3 diamonds on each of the navy blue nails. And then i did an overkill by using a clear rhinestone necklace as a background, but that's ok :) I think the effect was worth it :))

Hope you enjoyed the look and talk to you soon,
